Hotel description

The air-conditioned hotel was built in 1850 and renovated in 2006 in a Moroccan style. Each room had individually adjustable air conditioning added and the hotel now also features a small pool in the central inner courtyard, shaded by the orange trees. This city hotel also includes a terrace and 2 floors with a total of 14 rooms. Facilities include a lobby with a 24-hour reception, safe, a bar, restaurant, conference facilities and a wireless Internet access point, as well as room and laundry services (charges apply). Another 5 rooms will be added in July 2009 in the riad next door, with access through a second patio. All areas are decorated in a traditional Moroccan style.

Hotel location description

This stylish hotel is located in the heart of the medina (old town) in the Azbetz district. Within around 8 minutes guests will reach the famous Djemaa El Fna Square and the tourist centre. In around 2 minutes guests will reach the particularly lively souk (market) and Marrakech Museum.

Room description

The rooms include a large bedroom with a double bed, individually designed in an attractive Moroccan style, with either 2 single beds or one double bed. Some of the rooms can also accommodate a third person, with an extra bed made available on request. They all include an en suite bathroom as well as a hairdryer, Internet access, a safe and individually adjustable air conditioning and heating as standard. The apartments have 2 bedrooms and a lounge area, and are suited to 4-5 people. The rooms are ideally suited to families or friends.

Sport activities description

The hotel offers a complimentary spa bath on the terrace (not heated in winter) and a small one in the patio (also not heated). In addition, there is a poolside snack bar and sun loungers laid out ready for use. Traditional Hamam as well as massage treatments are also available on request and for an added fee. Guests are also able to enjoy their stay by seeing Marrakech in a caleche or taking a trip into the Atlas Mountains or the desert: the hotel has numerous itineraries to offer. In addition, the nearest golf course is located within 10 km of the hotel.

Meal service description

Breakfast is included in the price and can be enjoyed in the courtyard on the terrace or in the restaurant, depending on weather and season. Guests are able to begin the day with a fantastic breakfast while admiring the Atlas Mountains and the roofs of Marrakech. Lunch snacks, salads or light local dishes are also available, as long as the chef, Fatima, is asked in advance. The same applies for evening meals. Given just 2/4 hours in advance, the hotel is able to serve delicious evening meals: a traditional Tagine, a barbecue on the terrace or (if booked a day in advance) a large couscous dish. All dishes can also be made as a vegetarian option.

Guests can take a taxi from the airport (Petit Taxis are slightly cheaper than normal ones). Taxis will take guests to Ben Salah Square, from where they should follow the signs for Azbetz. From here it is the third street on the right, around a 1-minute walk. Please call the hotel staff if there are any difficulties, and they will be happy to pick up lost guests. Taxis from the airport can be something of a challenge and sometimes drop guests a long way from the hotel, so guests are advised to contact the hotel and organise a pick up in advance. They should contact the hotel as soon as they can with their arrival time and flight number, and details as to whether dinner will be required on the arrival day. The hotel catering must be arranged in advance. Please keep the hotel phone number handy and call to announce any delay for the pick up, as airport pick ups are offered regularly.

Comments from hotel

When checking in at the airport guests should try to be among the first passengers in line, as otherwise it can take a long time (up to an hour). Landing cards must be filled in on arrival and departure (usually distributed on board the aircraft). Please contact the hotel before arriving at the airport and reserve a taxi in advance through the riad, to help make the transfer easier. Many guests have challenging situation by taking any taxis at the airport such as overcharges, been left far from actual riad location... Kids under 8 are not permited.
